Thank you all for your patience. 📢l Message from Toufi to the HyperCycle Community Dear HyperCycle Community Members (or members to be), On October 4, our Node Distributor faced a challenging situation due to a social engineering scam, resulting in the temporary loss of 1M HyPC tokens (about 0.048% of the total market cap). This led to a noticeable fluctuation in the HyPC market price which fortunately stabilized after several hours. Our vision for HyperCycle's stability and growth has always been clear and unwavering. Part of our approach involves OTC elements to cater to large contributors to the HyperCycle network. In this particular case, the goal was to integrate 1,000,000 HyPC into the HyperCycle network which could have powered about 980 node licenses out of the 280,000+ that were already sold. This pairing is essential in the architecture of the overall system and is described in the white paper as the provenance marriage (some of the AI devs call it the AI Marriage). This therefore benefits the entire project as those nodes need the token to have their identity. Ofc subsequently everyone needs the tokens to transmit value which is the other utility of the native token. Luckily we have built the architecture of HyperCycle in a way that the ERC20 is only a pointer to the real native HyPC token and the scammers were not able to receive the native token not even a single one of them, in fact they didn’t even know their value and rushed into selling the ERC20 on decentralized exchanges which gave our fabulous community, including Nick and many of you to get them back before they are deployed into those machines. Hence the scammer got away with less than 0.021% of our market cap (that’s today's market cap, by the time we get to our goal this is likely to be a lot close to zero). This doesn’t mean it’s a small number and we should not care, each and everyone of you expressed concerns and proper reaction towards fighting those criminals and we will continue to prevail as a community. I am extremely grateful to many of you for reacting furiously against those scammers but I want us all to remember, the bigger attack would have been to divert our attention. All of us should keep reminding each other, what we are tackling here is a global initiative and we must not get any of those attempts to deter us from the main goal. In any battle there will be many attacks against us, the most important thing is the end goal, we will get there, we will prevail and we will continue to squash every scammer into their little sad corner feeling like a cockroach. I once again congratulate those of us who have taken the hit on this and came out winners very quickly and remind us all to please keep the focus on the grand picture. To put this behind us, folks are asking about details of what happened and my close executives have advised me to provide details to the best of our knowledge and in how it was reported to us. To provide clarity: The deal was set up to source tokens for master nodes. Funds were directed to an escrow wallet overseen by a third party known by Nicholas Black. In the midst of this, two Discord Servers were established, and Nick was led into one with a deceptive escrow contract. Initially, they requested 800k tokens, but this number grew to 1M HyPC during discussions. The scam took a turn when an impersonator, posing as Nick, falsely authorized the escrow agent to release the funds to the scammer. Nicholas Black ended up losing HyPC tokens on both BNB and ETH chains due to this scam. Given the market's liquidity, the scammer managed to sell all these tokens, amounting to roughly $390K.
